How to get the best from your candles
Wax
Our candles are made from soy wax and the first time you burn one of our candles you must let the candle burn until the wax has melted edge to edge, approx. 2 hours. Doing this will avoid your candle wax tunnelling.
For information this is because soy wax has a memory. Meaning when you light soy candle for the first time, if you extinguish it before it has melted edge to edge, the next time you burn the candle, the wax will only melt as far as it did the first time.
Wicks
At Natures Whisper we use two different types of wicks, from the TCR and CL wick family. CL wicks are cotton & Linen flat wicks which are great for soy wax. Whilst TCR wicks are crafted from unbleached cotton and intricately interwoven with delicate paper threads, encased in a protective outer jacket ensuring optimal performance. To get the best out of your candle:
the wick should be kept trimmed to 5mm.
The wick should also be trimmed following 2 hour burning time.
If you feel your wick does not seem to be burning well, extinguish your candle and trim the wick before relighting.
Wick trimmers can be used for this.
Burning
We recommend that soy wax burn time should be no longer than 2 ½ hours at a time. Keeping soy candles lit for longer can burn off all the fragrance too quickly. However, once you extinguish your candle the scent will linger in the air.
Candle
At Natures Whisper we handmake and pour all our candles. Sometimes the top of the candle may appear slightly uneven. This is a sign of natural soy and will not affect the quality of the candle.
